Dawyck covers 65 acres in the hills of the Scottish Borders. Plants from the mountainous regions of Europe, China, Nepal, Japan and North America thrive here in the warm/dry summers and cold/snowy winters. Visiting in May is the perfect time to see the Azalea Terrace with its blaze of colour. We then have a few hours in Peebles before heading home.

Take time to explore the medieval manor filled with items collected by 26 generations of the Strickland family. 1,600-acre estate containing wetlands, limestone pasture, ancient woodland, farmland and orchards and home to a variety of wildlife and flowers. We then have a few hours of free time in Kendal.

Whitby with it’s ancient port, ruined abbey and working harbour, has something for everyone. Enjoy time exploring the cobbled streets, climb the famous 199 steps to the Abbey Headland and sample some of the best fish and chips in the world.

Always a favourite, Beamish is a world famous open air museum telling the story of life in the North East of England during the 1820s, 1900s, 1940s & 1950s. There is always something new to see at Beamish, be it a building, a visiting tram or even a recipe created by the land girls at the 1940s farm – there are plenty of reasons to keep coming back!
